Important updates

Help residents review school support designation

Ontario residents are encouraged to review and update their school support designation with MPAC by June 1, 2026 to help ensure accurate information is provided to Elections Ontario before the municipal and school board elections on October 26, 2026.

To help you raise awareness and support residents with the process, we created a School Support Designation toolkit with frequently asked questions (FAQs) and ready-to-use messaging and graphics for social media, websites, newsletters, and more. Our School Support Designation page also provides guidance to help residents easily review and update their information.

Using these resources makes it simple to provide clear, consistent information and help residents be ready to vote.

Q3 2025 residential market insights are here

We’re pleased to share the Q3 2025 issue of The Residential Report: Market Insights. This quarterly report provides an overview of recent trends, analysis, and sales data for residential properties across Ontario – including single and semi-detached, condominiums and townhouses, and waterfront homes. The regional and municipal residential data can also be explored through an interactive map on our website.

The Q4 2025 report will be available soon – stay tuned for the latest updates!

You can also check out historical trends and compare quarterly changes in previous issues available on our Research and Insights page.

If you have any questions, including those about data usage and permissions, reach out to your local Municipal and Stakeholder Relations team.

Post Roll Amended Notice and Property Assessment Change Notice(s) on eligible Reference Plans

We are pleased to share that MPAC will now be issuing a Post Roll Amended Notice (PRAN) and Property Assessment Change Notice(s) on eligible Reference Plans (R-Plans). The change in processing R-Plans will be similar to how we process eligible plans of subdivision (M-Plans) and Condo Plans.

Any severance on an R-Plan that was registered prior to roll return, and the post-severance changes were not captured to the assessment roll, MPAC will issue a PRAN/PACN(s). The PRAN will be issued on the parent roll number(s) and then PACN(s) on the children roll number(s).

We were happy to work through this concept and changes to the process with the Municipal Liaison Group in fall 2024. Our Valuation Data Services team has started initiating these changes, so you may have received some Severance/Consolidation Information Forms (SCIFs) with notes alerting you to this change (PRAN to be issued or PACN to be issued). This improvement will:

  • Increase transparency for the property owner
  • Give property owners an option to appeal their post-severance value
  • Increase new assessment or revenue for municipalities
As this process will be new for property owners, our Valuation and Assessment Operations staff are prepared to explain this change when we receive enquiries.

Please reach out to your local Municipal and Stakeholder Relations team with any questions.

MPAC on the move

Snapshots from the road

Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference

It was great to connect face-to-face with municipal and provincial staff and elected officials at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference from January 18 to 20 in Toronto.

Our Municipal and Stakeholder Relations and Government Relations teams met with rural leaders at our exhibitor booth and during one-on-one conversations to share updates, answer questions, and hear firsthand what matters most to your communities.

A highlight of the event was our interactive, sponsored Learning Lunch session, which welcomed approximately 120 delegates. Participants shared how MPAC data is currently used, where we can add more value, and what effective partnership looks like moving forward.

The insights gathered at ROMA will help guide how we continue to improve our products and services and strengthen collaboration with municipalities to support local priorities. Thank you to everyone who connected with us – we look forward to continuing our work together.

Economic Developers Council of Ontario Conference

We were thrilled to engage with industry professionals at the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) Conference on February 3 and 4 in Toronto. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the MPAC booth to learn how our data and insights can help inform planning, investment decisions, and long-term growth strategies.
